Abstract

The advances in digital technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), provide new opportunities in the education sector, especially in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. AI enables personalization, efficiency, and interactivity in the teaching and learning process, making it very relevant to facing the challenges of competency in the 21st century. However, the application of AI in PAI learning still faces various challenges, such as limited infrastructure, lack of training, and ethical issues related to the use of technology. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the use of AI in PAI learning, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and provide strategic recommendations to optimize the implementation of this technology. Using a meta-analysis method, this study identified and evaluated the results of various studies on the use of AI in PAI. The results of the analysis show that AI can increase student motivation, participation, and understanding, support the development of skills needed in the 21st century, and facilitate administrative tasks for teachers. However, the main challenges faced include infrastructure issues, resistance to technology, and the risk of student dependence on technology. The integration of AI in PAI learning has great potential to improve the quality of education, but a wise approach, ongoing training, and ethical policies are needed to maximize the benefits of AI technology without sacrificing the values of religious education.
