Publication Ethics

Jurnal An-Nadwah is a scientific publication that contains writings derived from research, development, studies, and thoughts in the field of early childhood education. This statement of scientific ethics is a declaration of commitment from all parties involved in the publication process of Jurnal An-Nadwah, including journal managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. This code of ethics is based on the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. The three ethical values upheld in scientific publication are:

  1. Neutrality, which means being free from conflicts of interest in the management of publications;
  2. Justice, which refers to giving authorship rights to those entitled to be recognized as authors;
  3. Honesty, which means being free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism.

This Code of Ethics serves as a guideline for the Journal Managers of Jurnal An-Nadwah, Editors, Peer Reviewers, Authors, and third parties/sponsors to always uphold ethical values, follow established standards, and take full responsibility for the integrity of scientific publication management.

Journal Manager of An-Nadwah

Has the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Determine the name of the journal, its scientific scope, scholarly direction, and accreditation when necessary.
  • Appoint members of the editorial board.
  • Define the relationships among publishers, editors, peer reviewers, and other related parties.
  • Respect confidentiality of researchers, authors, editors, and peer reviewers involved.
  • Enforce norms and regulations related to intellectual property rights, especially copyrights.
  • Review journal policies and communicate them to authors, the editorial board, peer reviewers, and readers.
  • Develop ethical guidelines for editors and peer reviewers.
  • Ensure regular publication of the journal.
  • Guarantee the availability of financial resources to support the journal's sustainability.
  • Build cooperation networks and carry out marketing strategies.

Editor of Jurnal An-Nadwah

Has the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Fulfill the needs of both readers and authors.
  • Continuously strive to improve the quality of publications.
  • Implement a process to ensure the quality of the manuscripts published.
  • Promote freedom of expression objectively.
  • Maintain the academic integrity of the authors' records.
  • Provide corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.
  • Be responsible for the style and format of the manuscript, while the content and statements within remain the author’s responsibility.
  • Actively seek feedback from authors, readers, peer reviewers, and editorial board members to improve the journal's quality.
  • Encourage evaluations of the journal when significant findings arise.
  • Support initiatives to minimize research and publication errors by requiring ethical clearance forms approved by the Ethics Commission.
  • Promote awareness and education on publication ethics among researchers.
  • Review the effects of policies on authors and peer reviewers and make improvements to increase accountability and reduce mistakes.
  • Be open-minded to new or opposing views.
  • Avoid defending personal, author’s, or third-party opinions that may influence objectivity.
  • Encourage authors to revise their manuscripts for better quality before publication.

Peer Reviewers of Jurnal An-Nadwah

Have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Accept assignments from the editor to review manuscripts and provide feedback as a basis for publication decisions.
  • Review manuscripts in a timely manner according to the journal's style and based on scientific principles (e.g., data collection methods, author legitimacy, conclusions, etc.).
  • Re-review revised manuscripts in accordance with the established standards.
  • Encourage authors to improve their manuscripts by providing critiques, suggestions, feedback, and recommendations.
  • Maintain confidentiality by not sharing review results, comments, or recommendations.
  • Refrain from conducting research involving manuscripts they are reviewing or have reviewed, either directly or indirectly.

Authors of Journal Articles

Have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all individuals listed as authors meet the authorship criteria.
  • Be collectively responsible for the work and content of the manuscript, including research methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
  • Disclose the sources of funding or resources, whether directly or indirectly obtained.
  • Explain any limitations present in the research.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to comments from peer reviewers.
  • Notify the editor if they wish to withdraw their manuscript.
  • Respect any request from the publisher to withhold public disclosure of findings (e.g., through interviews or media) until the article is officially published.
  • Inform the editor about any related papers that are part of a phased, multidisciplinary, or varied-perspective study.
