This study examines how pesantren integrate ecological values into their Islamic educational traditions and how such integration generates socio-ecological impacts on surrounding communities. Employing a qualitative case study approach at Pesantren Moderat At-Thohiriyah in Pelamunan, Banten, the study collected data through in-depth interviews with kiai, ustadz, and santri; non-participant observation; and analysis of institutional program and policy documents. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal three interrelated dynamics. First, ecological values are integrated into the pesantren curriculum through the teaching of fiqh al-bi’ah and classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning). Second, environmental management practices, such as the utilization of organic waste within the pesantren, are rooted in the synergy between Islamic principles, including khalifah, mizan, and islah, and local ecological wisdom. Third, the environmentally friendly pesantren program generates measurable socio-ecological impacts, including changes in students’ environmental behavior, reduced use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and increased environmental literacy among communities surrounding the pesantren. This study contributes to the growing literature on faith-based environmental education and pesantren-based ecological practices, while reaffirming the strategic role of pesantren as agents of ecological transformation in Indonesia.
Asep Rahmatullah, Barlian Fajri ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ejournal.uas.ac.id/index.php/falasifa/article/view/3051 Sat, 12 Sep 2026 21:48:10 +0000 Kiai Leadership as Cultural Intermediaries and Political Actors in Strengthening Rural Social Resilience https://ejournal.uas.ac.id/index.php/falasifa/article/view/3025
This study aims to analyze the role of kiai as cultural intermediaries, local political actors, and agents of social resilience in rural communities in Bondowoso Regency. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed interactively through data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that kiai possess authority derived from religious knowledge, moral exemplars, social legitimacy, and Islamic boarding school networks. As cultural intermediaries, kiai bridge local traditions with Islamic values through a process of adaptation and negotiation. In local politics, kiai act as mediators between society and political actors and provide moral legitimacy, although their influence is not absolute. The interaction of culture, religion, and politics positions kiai as social actors who contribute to social cohesion and resilience, while also addressing political dynamics and contestation in society.
Khatipah Khatipah, Saihan Saihan, Qodiriyah Qodiriyah, Abdul Rumkel, Akhmad Khamdani, M. Monthly observations covering January 2016 to July 2025 are examined using the Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) model. The approach separates positive and negative changes in EPU and oil prices, allowing their short-run and long-run effects to be assessed independently. This study contributes evidence on the asymmetric transmission of these two global factors to the Indonesian Islamic equity market, an issue that remains underexplored. The estimates confirm a long-run relationship among the variables. Lower EPU is associated with a significant improvement in Islamic stock returns over the long run, whereas higher EPU does not produce a statistically significant effect. Although the separate long-run coefficients for oil-price increases and decreases are insignificant, the Wald test confirms that their effects are not equal. In the short run, oil-price declines generate a stronger return response than oil-price increases. Dynamic multiplier estimates also show that the adjustment of Islamic stock returns differs according to the direction of EPU and oil-price shocks. These results indicate that reduced global policy uncertainty is particularly relevant to long-term Islamic investment decisions.

Ahmad Fatoni, Ahmad Rodoni ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ejournal.uas.ac.id/index.php/falasifa/article/view/2896 Wed, 30 Sep 2026 22:11:07 +0000
